Damp Issue

This lounge was showing a fair few signs of damp on it. It was an old house so there was no cavity wall and the damp was penetrating through.

The first job was to fix all the guttering issues on the front bay as this would have been a large contributing factor to the damp. Once all fixed, the water could run away correctly and not overflow all the way along the front.

Inside the property, I washed all the walls down with bleach and then I applied a specialist stain block and water barrier. Two coats were needed as it is possible in the first picture to see where someone’s earlier attempt at blocking the damp had failed.

Once dry, I applied two coats of Dulux Natural Calico, vinyl matt emulsion, followed by an undercoat and gloss on the woodwork.
