Recently, I fitted 2 Velux Awning Blinds. These are very different to the standard Velux blinds that I fit regularly. With the Awnings, they fit on the outside of the window! Yes, the outside.
They are clever in that they stop the heat getting to the window in the first place. So during the day, the loft bedroom (for example) doesn’t heat up as much as the sun doesn’t get to the glass.
Although they fit quite taught to the window, they should be unhooked if it is going to be very windy. Just open the window, unhook it and it will wind back in to the window frame itself! Clever.
